The Chedi, Luštica Bay
Location: Nestled in the serene Luštica Bay Marina, The Chedi offers a tranquil escape amidst the stunning landscapes of Montenegro. Its picturesque setting provides a perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. The journey from the airport to the hotel takes time as it is located on the other side of the island, however the pristine views make it worthwhile. The hotel's secluded location may occasionally lead to moments of boredom due to the limited nearby attractions but the hotel provides a number of activities to circumvent this and the location is relaxing and calm away from the hustle and bustle. Accommodation: During our stay, we went for the Grand Deluxe Room, a spacious retreat adorned with modern amenities. The room's ambiance was both bright and airy, boasting a private balcony and a plush king-sized bed which was quite comfortable. The highlight was undoubtedly the bathtub overlooking the enchanting Luštica Bay Marina and the beautiful view overlooking the water. (Score: 7/10)
Dining: While the hotel boasts two restaurants, The Restaurant and The Spot, as well as a Lobby Bar and Beach Lounge (unfortunately closed during our visit), the culinary experience fell short of expectations. Breakfast lacked variety and failed to impress by the third morning. Limited dining options nearby added to the challenge, necessitating venturing outside the bay for alternative choices. The culinary offerings at The Chedi left much to be desired, especially for longer stays and would definitely need to be something the hotel addresses. (Score: 5/10)
Amenities: The Chedi Spa proved to be an oasis of relaxation, featuring a transparent indoor pool that captivated with its elegance. Additionally, an infinity pool offered mesmerising views of the ocean, complemented by a private beach exclusively for hotel guests. The inclusion of Acqua di Parma toiletries in all rooms added a touch of luxury to our stay. The closure of the private beach during our stay due to construction was a disappointment and took away from the beach element of the stay. (Score: 7/10)
Service: Despite a slightly rocky check-in experience and the initial disappointment of the beach closure, the warm and welcoming demeanour of The Chedi staff made up for a lot of this. Special commendation goes to the hotel manager for swiftly addressing our concerns and arranging a private boat experience on the Adriatic Sea, elevating our overall impression. The service at The Chedi was attentive and accommodating, enhancing our overall experience. (Score: 7.5/10)
Value for Money: The Chedi offers good value for the discerning traveller, providing luxury amenities and attentive service at reasonable rates. While certain aspects, such as dining options, may need improvement, the overall experience justifies the expenditure, making it a worthwhile investment for a relaxing and indulgent retreat. (Score: 7/10)
Overall Experience: Our stay at The Chedi in Montenegro left us with mixed feelings. While the accommodations were pristine and the amenities, particularly the indoor pool, were exceptional, the dining options left much to be desired. However, the attentive service and stunning surroundings compensated for these shortcomings, making for a comfortable stay overall. We remain hopeful that with time, the culinary offerings will match the excellence found elsewhere in the hotel.
