Chotto Matte, Marylebone
Review
Heading to Chotto Matte in Marylebone for dinner was an excellent choice, especially after our previous positive experiences at their original Soho location. Despite being smaller in size compared to the two-floor Soho venue, the Marylebone branch exudes a welcoming atmosphere, particularly on a vibrant Friday evening.
As we stepped inside, we were immediately struck by the elegant yet lively ambiance. The sleek, modern decor combined with the soft glow of ambient lighting created a sophisticated yet inviting setting. The buzz of conversation and overall ambience added to the vibrant atmosphere, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience.
Perusing the menu, we found ourselves spoiled for choice with a diverse array of options. From traditional Japanese sushi to innovative Peruvian-inspired dishes, there was something to tantalize every palate. After much deliberation, we settled on the Spicy Tuna Crispy Sushi and the Jumbo Prawn Tempura to start with.
The Spicy Tuna Crispy Sushi arrived beautifully presented, each bite bursting with a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The freshness of the tuna paired perfectly with the crispy exterior, creating a delightful contrast that left us craving more. Equally impressive was the Jumbo Prawn Tempura, with its light, crispy batter encasing succulent prawns that practically melted in our mouths.
Moving on to the main course, we were treated to a symphony of Japanese and Peruvian flavors that danced across our taste buds. The O-Toro Aburi, with its perfectly seared tuna belly, melted like butter on the palate, while the Warm Beef Fillet Tataki provided a tantalizing contrast of textures and temperatures. Each bite of the Dressed Nigiri and Asado De Tira revealed layers of complexity, showcasing the culinary prowess of the chefs.
Throughout our meal, the attentive service ensured that our every need was met. The staff exuded professionalism and warmth, enhancing our overall dining experience.
By the time we reached the end of our main course, we found ourselves too stuffed to even contemplate dessert. Yet, this was a testament to the sheer indulgence of the meal rather than any shortcomings on the part of the menu.
In conclusion, we would rate Chotto Matte a solid 8 out of 10. While the dishes may lean towards the pricier side, the quality and creativity of the cuisine justify the expense, especially for special occasions.
Chotto Matte in Marylebone is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience that delights the senses and leaves a lasting impression. We eagerly anticipate our next visit to savor more of their seriously tasty food and vibrant atmosphere.
